Various people who lost loved ones during 9-11 come to discover healing during the ten-year anniversary. Their lives intersect and emotions intensify until an unexpected cathartic event harkens a call for them to embrace humanity. Pop-Pop, a grizzled retired fireman; his fireman son Ryan, who suffers from the loss of his wife in the World Trade Center; Adora, the bitter socialite who mentally tortures her guilt-plagued husband Frank after the death of their fire-fighting son; survivor Mayako the grief counselor and her feisty office manager Melani, who lost a child; Yves who raises a glass once a month at Mary's Place with shell-shocked reporter Colby to cope with memories of devastation; and bar owner Mary who lost a sister at the Pentagon.
