Murder Mystery

Death By Dominatrix

"Death By Dominatrix" is a stage noir sendup of contemporary sexual struggles that turn masculinity and femininity inside out. It's the Maltese Falcon at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The show, produced by Planet Earth Theater, was a surprise hit in Phoenix in 1992. The show, and its heroine Vicia LaMarke, ran and ran and ran and breathed heavily while doing it. It even became a favorite night out for certain groups we won't mention here. There were some positive reviews praising "the magic of Paxton's humor and irreverence" but a powerful newspaper critic hated it so much the headline read, "Planet Earth Orbits In Sleaze." That only increased the box office sales. The show left Phoenix for a stint at the Valley Art Theater in Tempe, bordering the Arizona State University campus, to open for the midnight showings of "Rocky Horror Picture Show."
