Somebody Broke My Heart

This short film (20 minutes) was adapted from a play by the same name. The play was voted the Audience Favorite in the Downhome Play Fest at Winthrop University, sponsored by Rock Hill Community Theater. It also garnered playwright Greg Paxton the Palmetto Award for best South Carolina playwright.

The film version started as a class project for the film program at Central Piedmont Community College. It was the first collaboration between Paxton and Justin Martin, who would later work together on the feature film "Above The Fire" and the short film "Tight Security," plus other projects.

"Somebody Broke My Heart" premiered at Rock Hill Community Performance Center, was screened at Central Piedmont Community College, and aired on Cable Channel 21 in Charlotte, all in 2011.

Synopsis: An eccentric woman in a park and her magical gentleman friend, who were Queen Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII in a previous life, assist a young couple with their troubled romantic relationship while working on their karma.
