Staged Lives

"Staged Lives" was the very first Masque Entertainment production. It hit the boards in May of 1994 at Planet Earth Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. Staged Lives is a trilogy of one-act comedies about people in the world of theater.

"Death Scene" is a play within a play where everything goes wrong. (It was a winner of the Arizona Playwrights Festival in Prescott that year).

"Lili Marlene" is a comedy drama featuring the return of Marlene Dietrich as a counselor of forbidden love to a theatrical agent and a drag queen. (One of the actors met here during World War II when he was a soldier. She hurried out of a room and knocked him to the floor. He said that she's like Dracula because they resurrect her every so often, as we did in this show.)

"The Dressing Room" is a breezy farce where all the stock theater types converge in a dressing room for disastrous and comedic results. It has clowns, cowboys, pirates, a butch stage manager, an effeminate elderly director on the prowl, a crazed stage mother protecting her daughter's innocence, and Bo Peep.
